Shopian: A day long workshop on Goods and Services Tax (GST) was organized for traders of Shopian District by Commercial Taxes Department in collaboration with District Administration here Wednesday at Circuit House Shopian.
The interactive program was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Mohammad Ahsan Mir. He said such awareness programs are vital for getting all stakeholders viz. businessmen, educationists, media persons, public servants, lawyers, entrepreneurs ready for its implementation.
Assistant Commissioner Sales Tax Department presented a power point presentation highlighting key features of GST, Registration, Exemptions and other vital aspects. They informed that with the implementation of GST, operation and data related to goods and services shall be processed in a seamless manner. On the occasion, traders put forth their queries and sought clarifications from officials on variety of issues like Input Tax credit, tax on pending stock items and contract taxes.
Officer from Finance department and Treasury Officer Shopian besides officers of sales tax department and huge number of civil society members were present at the workshop.
