Srinagar:: The Editors and owners of news wire agencies Tuesday held a meeting and formed an association which will raise up the issues faced by the news agencies before the concerned authorities.
The editors of the agencies who met Tuesday at Kashmir News Service office included Muhammad Aslam Bhat of KNS, Rashid Rahi of Current News Service, , Bashaarat Nazir Zargar of API, Sabir Ayoub of KMN, Arshad Rasool of JKNS while Jammu-based new agencies editors Vijay Kuamr of KIP and Mir Zameer of JKNI formed a body called as ‘News Agencies Association JK’ and elected its adhoc body.
The Association elected KNS editor Muhammad Aslam Bhat as its Chairman, Basharat Nazir Zargar as its president, Rashid Rahi vice president, Sabir Ayoub General Secretary, Arshad Rasool Publicity Secretary, Vijay Kumar Joint Secretary, and Mir Zameer as Organiser.
The members of the association said that another meeting will be held next week in which editors and owners of more news agencies will be called in.
They said that the credibility and importance of these agencies and their role should be maintained at an cost in the state. The association said that it will raise the issues before the DIPR, PCI, the government and other concerned levels.
The members discussed the issues faced by them and maintained that they will work for upholding professional news reporting in the state.
