Divisive intents of BJP’s hawks

Hawks within the BJP the ally of PDP grab all opportunities to hit out at their own party’s ministers just to safeguard the interests of the Jammu region even in the selection of candidates to various cadres and services by the two premier recruiting agencies of the state government the service selection recruitment board and the Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission (J&K PSC) . The latest critical statement against the BJP ministers has come from Prof Virendra Gupta the J&K BJP spokesperson who without looking into the procedural technicalities mandated by the given rules has challenged the selection of three lecturers from Kashmir valley and only one from Jammu on the four vacant positions of lecturers at Government Medical College Jammu. None from the BJP part of the coalition ministry dares to ask Prof Gupta to come up with any evidence about any irregularity that the authorities of J&K Public Services Commission have committed in the conduct of selection process. Prof Gupta should have been told that merit and performance but not the regional and religious affiliations are the parameters for the selection of candidates for any post that may be filled by either the services selection recruitment board or the state public service commission. The BJP spokesman wants his ministers to work on the communal lines despite knowing the constitutional obligations of a minister in the conduct of his duties. Had BJP spokesperson thought about the constitutional obligations of his minister he won’t have said that the settlement of Rohingya muslims is a threat to the national security and as well as to the original inhabitants of Jammu. If refugees are a threat to national security then BJP spokesman should also contradict the demands of his party on the settlement of West Pakistan Refugees (WPRs) in Jammu region. Prof Gupta the BJP spokesman can’t deny the fact that refugees are only refugees and can’t be treated differently on the basis of religion, caste, creede and colour. Irony of the fact is that instead of facing questions on his illogical statements over the selection of lecturers in Government Medical College Jammu and settlement of Rohingya muslims from his party’s ministers Prof Gupta has found another BJP spokesperson Brigadier Anil Gupta raising anti-kashmiri sentiments in Jammu by questioning the introduction of Kashmiri language in all the colleges in Jammu province. If BJP spokesman Brigadier Anil Gupta would have little bit of respect for the linguistic emotions of migrant kashmiri pundits living Jammu province for the last more than twenty five years and the people of kashmiri speaking areas of Chenab valley and Pir Panchal areas of Jammu region, then he won’t even think on raising questions on the decision of the government to introduce Kashmiri language in all the degree colleges of Jammu province.

Had Chief Minister shown her seriousness on the regional and cultural bonding of the people of Kashmir and Jammu, then hawks of BJP including the likes of Prof Virender Gupta and Brigadier Anil Gupta won’t try to raise emotions of regional and linguistic divide in the Jammu region.

By raising unwanted questions on the introduction of Kashmiri language in all the degree colleges of Jammu province the BJP spokesman Brigadier Anil Gupta is trying to create a regional divide in the name of language in Jammu division. The highly objectionable remark of BJP spokesman Brigadier Anil Gupta against the introduction of Kashmiri language in all the degree colleges of Jammu province is one way or the other an attack on the cultural bonding of the people of Kashmir and Jammu and disrespect to the linguistic emotions of Kashmiri pundits living in several parts of Jammu region and the kashmiri speaking areas of Chenab valley and Pir Panchal areas of Jammu province. Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti talks much about regional bonding of Kashmir and Jammu but does very little homework on the regional and cultutral bonding of the people of two regions.
