Reasi: Development Commissioner Ravinder Kumar, Reasi Tuesday chaired a meeting of district sports council to discuss issues and devise mechanism to promote sports in the district.
The meeting was attended by SDM Dharmari Naresh Kumar, DGM JKPCC, Joint Secretary J&K Sports Council Jammu, District Youth and Sports Officer S.S. Chib and other members of the sports council.
The DDC reviewed pace of progress on Zorawar Singh Sports Stadium being developed in Reasi town and stressed on its early completion. He also asked the sports council to make provision for a Gym hall near sports stadium for which police department has agreed to provide equipments and other infrastructure .
The meeting decided to hold joint exercises to identify the sports talent at school level and provide students a platform in the sports of their interest.
The Committee members of Volley ball, Wrestling, Badminton, Fencing, Kho-Kho, Kabbadi etc were asked to come up with activity calendar to nourish the sports skills of the potential youth and hold district level sports competitions.
Instructions were also passed for organizing open competitions in different games in rural areas to explore local talent. It was informed that district Reasi stands at No. 2 in Fencing sports after Jammu.
Assembly, M R Singh, senior officers and officials of concerned department and Assembly Secretariat were present in the meeting.
