Srinagar: Police today arrested two accused involved in the murder of a 15-year-old boy over a fortnight ago in north Kashmir district of Baramulla.
A police spokesperson here today said that On July 3, 2017, Police Station Uri received information that the body of a boy, Maqsood Ahmad Khanday, was lying in the pool of blood near the Line of Control (LoC) in the outskirts of Madiyan village.
A team was rushed to the area and the body was taken away. “The police party also collected necessary evidence, prepared site plan and recorded the statements of some locals who were present on spot,” he said.
As per the locals, he said the deceased was missing from his home since July 2, 2017.
Subsequently, he said that the body of deceased was brought to Sub-District Hospital Uri for medico legal formalities and after medico legal formalities was handed over to the legal heirs for last rites.
He said the investigating team rounded up number of suspected persons of the area for questioning on the bases of collected evidences.
After following various leads, he said the case was cracked and two people involved in the crime were arrested.
“They have been identified as Munir Ahmad Sheikh and Mohammad Rafi Sheikh,” he said.
The motive behind the murder has been found to be a prolonged domestic dispute between accused and deceased, he said, adding investigation into the matter is going on.
