Bandipora: The District Development Commissioner Bandipora Saturday inspected the Craft Training Centre Bandipora, being run by Bandipora College of Information Technology under the aegis of Ministry of Minority Affairs (GoI).
300 candidates are being imparted necessary craft training in Kani Shawl weaving at the center.
The DDC was informed that the training is being imparted under newly launched USTAAD Program for the revival of dying traditional art of Kani Shawl. The officials said a stipend of Rs. 13.50 lakh will also be provided to the trainees at the rate of Rs 1500 per month per trainee for a period of three months.
It was given out that the trainees after the completion of training course can establish their own venture to earn a livelihood.
Assistant Director Handloom, Director Bandipora College of Information Technology and other officials were also present on the occasion.
