Rs 1.37 Lakh fine imposed on power defaulters, encroachments removed

Rajouri: A fine of Rs 1,37,591 was imposed for a number of illegal power connections in district Rajouri taking the total fine imposed as a part of drive against illegal connections in last 5 days to Rs 8.74 Lakhs.

Joint teams conducted 57 inspections during which apart from imposing fine 31 power connections were regularised. Fine of Rs 23,250 was imposed in Rajouri-I Sub-division , Rs 45,660 in Rajouri-II , Rs 56,681 in Sunderbani and Rs 12000 in Koteranka. So far 230 power connections have been regularised involving a load of 194.75 KW.

Meanwhile, the drive against unauthorised constructions and illegal constructions along PWD road continued on 3rd day Thursday and a total road length of 6 KM has been vacated from encroachments. A large number of structures including shops, private schools, residential complexes have been marked with red paint indicating the area to be vacated in next two days failing which these structures will be demolished to retrieve the road acquired for land vacated.

Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary along with ADDC A S Chib, ACR Paramjeet Singh,  CPO Hamid Choudhary, ExEn S A Wani, Tehsildar Rajouri and senior officers of various departments inspected the road from Kheora to Choudharynar which has been cleared from encroachments and further drive continuing.

PWD has mapped all the encroachments which are being removed with help from Revenue Department and Police.

The team of officers also visited new bus stand and decision was taken for shifting of Tempo stand from road side, shifting of buses from old bus stand and initiation of drive for removal of garbage dumped along banks of river as well as premises of bus stand.
