Srinagar: Kashmir Transporters Welfare Association has called for “Chakka Jam” across Kashmir to protest the shifting of Batmaloo General Bus Stand to Parimpora on the outskirts of Srinagar.
Transporters and various trade associations are protesting against the move, saying it would cause them huge business losses.
Sheikh Muhammad Yousuf, general secretary, Kashmir Transporters Welfare Association told Greater Kashmir that a meeting of representatives of auto rickshaws, mini-buses and other passenger vehicles was held on Wednesday.
“Bus owners have decided to leave buses of Western Bus Service at the Batamaloo GBS as a mark of protest. The bus stand at Parimpora is not worth a bus stand but we have been told to shift soon which is quite an illogical move. All transport will remain off the roads on Thursday,” said Yousuf.
