Jammu: Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta kick-started pipeline laying work here at Dashmesh Nagar and later listened to the public issues in Digiana area.

Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker said water is a basic and essential necessity and providing its adequate supply to every household is prime responsibility of the government.

He said the new pipeline will augment water supply to the locality meeting the long pending demand of the residents. He directed the concerned officers for the timely completion of the work so that residents are benefited at the earliest.

The Speaker also inspected the progress of ongoing work of a park being developed in the locality at an estimated cost of Rs 5 crore. He said development of parks and green patches in Jammu city and its peripheries forms the part of government’s earnest efforts to project the winter capital as an independent tourist destination.

He also held a public grievances redressal camp at Digiana and listened to the issues of local people.

Giving a patient hearing to the grievances of the residents of the locality, the Speaker assured them that all their grievances will be looked into for an early redressal.

Listing various ongoing development projects in the area, the Speaker said he is striving to provide all basic facilities to the residents of his constituency.

Senior functionaries from concerned departments were also present on the occasion.

Later, the Speaker toured the adjoining areas and took stock of various development works and directed the concerned officers to submit the progress report to his office.
