Srinagar: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) and Information, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali Wednesday inaugurated Command Control Room and Tehsil Accounts Section here at FCS&CA Directorate.

The Minister was accompanied by Secretary FCS&CA Shafiq Raina, Director FCS&CA Nisar Ahmad Wani and other concerned officers of the Department.

The Minister was informed that the system has been introduced in two-phases and in the inaugural phase 12 surveillance cameras have been installed at Directorate and three at Gulab Bagh godowns, while the second phase would be started next month.

While hailing the surveillance system setup, the Minister said establishing Command Control Room (CCR) is a big step towards ensuring greater transparency in the functioning of the Department.

However, he stressed on regular monitoring to make good use of the new system. He said to maintain a continuous surveillance in the department there should be a dedicated staff which would work in shifts to ensure that all the departmental activities are continuously monitored.

The Minister explained the newly introduced monitoring system would greatly help the department to figure out if there is any kind of pilferage of food grains. He added the CC room would also enable the concerned officers to monitor the engagement of their subordinates delivering their work in different sections at the directorate.   The Minister said the department has introduced a latest surveillance system which will greatly help in strengthening its clean image among masses.

Later the Minister also inaugurated the Tehsil Accounts Section (TAS) and interacted with the staff there.
