Workshop on GST organized at Udhampur

Udhampur: A workshop on Goods and Services Tax (GST) was   organized here Tuesday at Conference hall, DC complex under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Niraj Kumar.

During the workshop, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Dr. Mandeep Bhandari also interacted with participants through video conferencing and briefed them about the new tax regime.

A detailed presentation was also given by Additional Commissioner (Adm) State Tax department, Jammu Anoo Malhotra via video conferencing.

The presentation highlighted various aspects of GST including Background of GST, Concept of GST, registration, types of taxes, difference between GST and VAT etc.

Meanwhile, a team of Commercial Tax officers also interacted with the    local traders. The team comprising CTOs, Sanya Haq, Rahul Sharma and Narendra Anthal interacted with the representatives of various business establishments and answered their queries regarding GST. The speakers also assured trading units and business establishments that more such workshops would be organised in the district for generating mass awareness about the GST  and its successful implementation on ground level.

Besides, the District administration also launched special helpline numbers (272727/ 272728) to address and record  grievances of  stakeholders regarding the implementation of GST. It was further informed that traders can also contact directly to Commercial Tax department on helpline number 7051889993 or through e-mail [email protected] to seek reply of queries regarding the GST.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner directed the CTO Udhampur to provide the details of the registration data of GST on weekly basis. AD FCS &CA and AC Legal Metrology were directed to conduct inspections to ensure that no overcharging is being made by the business establishments in the name of GST. They were also directed to ensure that proper display of rates and billing by the shopkeepers.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Avny Lavasa, GM DIC Suram Chand Sharma, CPO Ashok Khajuria, PO-DRDA Dr. Jagdish Mehra, DIO-NIC Anil Sharma, AD FCS &CA Haroon Naik, Tehsildar Udhampur Javed Iqbal, DIO Esha Chib besides representatives of Beopar mandal, Chamber of commerce and other business establishments and trading units attended the workshop.
