Jammu: Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Dr. Mandeep Kumar Bhandari Tuesday assured full assistance to industrialists and traders to solve the issues confronting them while switching over to Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime.

“The issues of all stakeholders will be taken up at the appropriate level so that they don’t face any difficulty in shifting to the new tax regime in the transitory phase” Div Com told traders and industrialists here at a meeting.

The meeting was convened to know about the concerns of the industrialists and traders, besides seeking their suggestions and feedback for hassle-free implementation of GST in Jammu.

The Divisional Commissioner directed the officers of Commercial Taxes Department to do handholding of the stakeholders for maximum registration of businesses under GST regime. He asked them to educate the small traders by conducting awareness programs in the markets and reaching out to them directly.

In the meeting, the Divisional Commissioners asked the representatives of the industrialist associations and traders to submit a list of commodities on which they want protection under GST. He assured them that their representations would be taken up at the appropriate level for early redressal.

Earlier in the day, the Divisional Commissioner directed the Deputy Commissioners and Additional District Development Commissioners in Jammu division to facilitate the stakeholders by providing them infrastructural facilities for online registration under GST. He further asked them to ensure sufficient availability of essential commodities in the market, besides keeping a check on overpricing and adulteration.

The Divisional Commissioner further directed them to generate adequate feedback and establish effective grievance redressal mechanism for traders running their businesses in Jammu, particularly in far-flung and inaccessible areas. He asked them to work in synergy with the Commercial Taxes Department for ensuring cent percent penetration of the unified tax regime in Jammu.

The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioners, Jammu Rehana Batool and Anu Radha Rani, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, Additional District Development Commissioner Anuradha Gupta, Additional Commissioner, Jammu (Commercial Taxes) Anoo Malhotra, Deputy Commissioner Commercial Taxes (Recovery) Kanta  Rukwal, Deputy Commissioner (Commercial Taxes) Deepika K Sharma, Assistant Commissioner, Jammu (Central Taxes) Prakash Chaudhary, Assistant Commissioner (Commercial Taxes) Rajneesh Gupta and other senior officers of Commercial Taxes.
