Srinagar: The Pakistani troops opened yet another front this time, targeting the Indian forward positions at Uri in north Kashmir district of Baramulla. A soldier was injured, official sources said. However, the Defence Ministry Spokesman was not available to give details about the ceasefire violation by Pak troops.
Sources said that Pakistani troops violated the 2003 ceasefire and resorted to unprovoked firing on forward Indian position at Kamalkote in Uri sector today. The Indian troops also retaliated and the exchange of fire continued. A soldier was injured and he was shifted to the hospital.
However, the casualties suffered by troops on the other side of the Line of Control (LoC) were not immediately clear. India and Pakistan entered a ceasefire agreement in 2003 on the LoC and the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir. However, Pak troops have been violating the ceasefire almost daily in Jammu region.
