Srinagar/July,17: Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Molvi Umar Farooq was barred from leading the funeral prayers of his uncle and close aide Tariq Ahmed Buch who passed away today ( Monday).
Mirwaiz, who is under house detention from past more than three weeks, tried to defy the restrictions and was arrested by police.
“As I defied house arrest to lead Jinazah prayers of my maternal uncle & close aide Tariq Ahmed Buch, Arrested & detained at police station!” tweeted the Mirwaiz.
When contacted Mirwaiz said that he had asked the police officers to accompany him to the funeral of his uncle.
“I asked them (police officers) to place me under detention again after offering the funeral of my uncle. But they didn’t listen,” he said.
