Srinagar: J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in association with Tourism Department Kashmir launched a weekly cultural program series titled “Culture on Cruise” here on Saturday at Dal Lake.
Conceived by JKAACL, the innovative program series brings writers, performance artists, musicians, poets and academics together and offers a program of performances, workshops, talks, forums and debates.
Talking about the program series – the first of its kind in the State – Secretary JKAACL, Dr Aziz Hajini says he’s looking forward to hosting such events on regular basis through summer and autumn on varied topics of interest on the floating waters of the Dal Lake.
“There’s something really magical about listening to music and talks outside especially on running waters and it’s wonderful to remember that and to make the effort to organize it,” he says, adding such events has a “very special and moving experience”.
Elucidating further, Hajini said under this series, the organizers will hold regular interactions with cross sections of the society besides Dal dwellers including tourists so as to ensure broader discourse on cultural moorings of the State.
The inaugural program of the series saw artists Mohammed Yaseen Gundpuri, Mohammed Subhan Shah, and Bashir Kotur perform before a select gathering of audience comprising singers, artists, writers, and poets. Broadcaster Talha Jehangir anchored the program.
