Srinagar/July,16: Sixteen Amarnath yatirs are reported killed and more than twenty others injured in bus accident on Jammu -Srinagar highlway.
A traffic police official said a bus carrying yatris from Jammu to Kashmir met with an accident and fell into a gorge near Banihal on Srinagar-Jammu highway on Sunday.
He said a bus, bearing registration number JK02Y 0594, while on way to Srinagar rolled down into a gorge near an army camp in Nachilana area of Banihal in Ramban district.Sixteen pilgrims were killed in the accident adding that the injured were shifted to a local hospital for treatment.
The official said that nineteen injured are being airlifted to Jammu for specialised treatment. Eight pilgrims, he said, have sustained minor injuries.
