Srinagar: Life returned in Kashmir valley after remaining crippled yesterday, when separatists had called for a separatists on 86th death anniversary of 22 martyrs, killed during Dogra rule outside the central Jail, Srinagar in 1931.
However, business and other activities remained paralysed for the second successive day today in south Kashmir district of Pulwama against alleged use of disproportionate force by security forces Thursday this week in the district.
Meanwhile, curfew-like restrictions continued in old Srinagar city for the third consecutive day Friday as a precautionary measure to prevent any violence.
Both the factions of Hurriyat Conference and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), spearheading the agitation, demanding right to self determination, had called for a strike yesterday as on that day in 1931, 22 people were killed by Dogra police.
Shops and business establishments reopened and traffic was plying on all routes normally in the summer capital, Srinagar and outskirts today. Work in government offices and banks was also normal. Government offices and banks were closed yesterday because of martyrs day holiday.
Meanwhile, all schools and colleges remained closed on the account of summer vacations till July 16.
Life also returned to normal in this and other south Kashmir towns and tehsil headquarters, barring Pulwama, a report from Anantnag said.
Business and other activities resumed this morning and traffic was plying on all routes normally in south Kashmir, where government offices and banks were also functioning normally.
However, shops and business establishments remained closed and traffic was off the roads in Pulwama, where scores of youth were injured in clashes with security forces yesterday.
Situation was also normal as shops and business establishments reopened and traffic was plying normally in this and other north Kashmir town and tehsil headquarter, a report from Baramulla said.
Reports of normalcy were also received from central Kashmir districts of Budgam and Ganderbal.
