Srinagar/July,15: Police here on Saturday morning claimed to have killed two militants in an encounter in forest in Tral area of Pulwama district in South Kashmir and said that the encounter between the militants and the government forces is still continuing in the area. .
A police official said that government forces acted on inputs about the presence of militants in the area and cordoned off Gujar Basti in Wantiwen forests of Satura village. He said that two to three militants have been killed in the exchange of fire with Army’s 42 RR and Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police so far.
He said that the militants, who were yet to be identified, belonged to Jaish-e-Muhammad outfit. The official said that at least five more militants are believed to be hiding in the area. He said helicopters and para commandos have been pressed into service to neutralise the rest of the hiding militants.
