Srinagar: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh has strongly condemned the attack on Amarnathji Yatris at Anantnag in which 7 yatris died and several were injured.
Expressing sympathies with the families of the deceased, the Deputy Chief Minister said such dastardly acts of violence are handiwork of the elements trying to push the state into chaos and create a communal wedge between different communities. He said we should collectively condemn these dastardly acts which are a crime against humanity and human values.
It is pertinent to mention that the Deputy Chief Minister had Monday visited the injured at district hospital Anantnag and enquired about their condition. He had also directed the concerned to provide every possible assistance to the injured.
The Deputy Chief Minister also visited Technical Airport to pay homage to the deceased and injured who were being airlifted to their native states.
Meanhwile, The Communist Party of India (M), Jammu and Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCI) and Jamait-e-Islami (JeI) have also condemned the militant attack on Amarnath yatris that left seven yatris dead and 19 others wounded in Anantnag last night.
Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Coordination Committee (CC), an amalgam of different trade and other bodies, opposing Goods and Services Tax (GST), postponed scheduled press conference Tuesday on the issue in view of the attack on yatris.
The attack on Yatris and unfortunate killing of 7 pilgrims and injuries to many more is shameful and a big blow on the tradition of communal harmony of Kashmir.
“Our state has always been an abode of communal harmony, rich traditions of brotherhood, which stood test of times even during the difficult phase of turmoil in the state. The attack is an attempt to disrepute the plural ethos of the State”, the CPI-M said in a statement here Tuesday.
We should ponder over where we are heading to. By such dastardly acts, whom we are targeting; none else but the suffering people of Kashmir and the very foundation of our identity.
The statement said that the Amarnath Yatra has been going on since long and people of Kashmir have been earning livelihood out of this tradition and have been enthusiastically in the forefront of welcoming the Yatris.
Yatris have not come with any political agenda. The people of Kashmir have no animosity with people of India. Such barbaric acts only isolate people of Kashmir further.
We appeal the people of our State not to fall prey to forces of extremism desperate to disrupt our harmony. The biggest strength lies in our unity and we have to unitedly raise our voice against the forces of disruption.
The JeM has also strongly condemned the attack on unarmed and innocent yatris and said it was unislamic. However, the JeM demanded impartial probe into the attack.
The KCC&I Tuesday condemned the attack on a Yatra bus in strongest words. The Chamber conveyed its condolences to the bereaved families and expresses sympathies with the injured.
