Jammu/July,8: People in Bhadarwah district of Chenab valley Saturday observed a complete shutdown on the first death anniversary of militant commander Burhan Wani.
Shops and other business establishments remained closed in the district on the call of Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL). However, government offices functioned normally and traffic movement remained unaffected.
The shutdown call was issued by Anjuman-e-Isalamia Bhaderwah to support the protest calendar issued by JRL and express resentment against GST implementation.
“We observed a shutdown to show our solidarity with the people of Kashmir and to also warn the state government to stop testing our patience,” said President Anjuman-e-Islamia Bhadarwah Pervaiz Ahmed Sheikh. Reports said that shutdown was also observed in Kishtwar and Banihal on the first death anniversary of Burhan Wani.
