Srinagar/July,6: The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has invited chairman of hardline Hurriyat Conference (HC) Syed Ali Shah Geelani to attend 44th session of Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) being held at Abidjan from July 10.
However, Mr Geelani will not be able to attend two-day conference since he has no passport.
A spokesman for the Hurriyat said here this afternoon that OIC General Secretary Dr Yousuf-Bin-Ahmed Al-Othaimeen has invited Mr Geelani to conference at Cote-D’lvore, Abidjan.
Similar invitation was received by chairman of moderate HC Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq.
However, spokesman of the amalgam said for the past five years Mirwaiz has been denied the travel documents thereby barring him from traveling abroad to attend the conferences including those organised by the OIC.
Meanwhile, Mirwaiz and Geelani hoped that the OIC will take serious note of the alleged human rights violations and the killing of innocents in Kashmir and OIC will play a role in getting this stopped forthwith.
They further hoped that OIC will lay special focus on the resolution of Kashmir dispute as well which is lingering since past several decades, and work towards its final resolution as per the wishes and aspirations of its people.
However, the invitation letter further informed them that hospitability will be at your expenses.
