Srinagar: A drama unfolded in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Wednesday-courtesy the word ‘Lynching’.
For a while, legislators forgot they are there to discuss Goods and Service Tax even the BJP member Satpaul Sharma who was addressing the House when the ‘Lynching Syndrome’ engulfed the House preferred to take his seat and remained silent.
Through out the session, National Conference members sought Speakers intervention and demanded unconditional apology from People’s Democratic Party member and Minister Imran Raza Ansari who on Tuesday had told Davinder Singh Rana that he can lynch him. Rana earlier appealed the Speaker to direct police chief to lodge an FIR against Ansari.
“Mr Rana, you haven’t understood the meaning of the word lynching properly. Ansari Sahb used the word in a different context. The word lynch is used when mob kills a person. Ansari is an individual and how can he lynch you,” said Sajjad Lone to which Rana reacted and said that the sentence was used to threaten him.
Imran Raza Ansari stood up from the bench and repeated his sentence he had uttered on Tuesday in the Assembly. “I can lynch you because I know your shady business. This is what I had said. How can I lynch a ‘Blue Whale,” he muttered as the legislators and the people in galleries burst into laughter.
Ansari said that in Kashmir only two persons were lynched which included Syed Yousuf and Ayoub Pandit.
He went on and told Rana that he called him a tax evader, to which Rana said that he never uttered such words. “Rana Kya mei kahoun ki patli gali say maal aata hai. I know everything. You and your colleague Abdul Majid Larmi have already got the GST numbers for your business,” Ansari said.
Larmi said he will resign immediately if it is proved that he secured GST tin number. Ansari took a paper lying on his table and started reading the GST number and the address of Abdul Majid Larmi. Larmi kept on raising objections.
National Conference members kept on demanding the registration of FIR against Ansari. “If you want the registration of FIR for this remark, then what about those killings that have been taking place across Kashmir. Arey NC Kay Khilaf To Lakhoun FIR Lag Saktay Hai,” Sajjad Lone said.
The ‘lynching’ discussion was going on when the Speaker adjourned the House for lunch break.
