Jerusalem: Underlining that both their countries had suffered at the hands of terror, visiting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu today agreed to boost their anti-terrorism and strategic cooperation. The two leaders, after holding talks here, announced that their cooperation would not be confined to bilateral matters but be extending to areas impacting on global peace and security.
They also said they would be increasing their cooperation in Africa. ‘’India has suffered first hand by violence and hatred of terrorists. We agreed to do much more to protect our strategic interest and to protect growing radicalisation,’’ Modi said in a statement to the press after signing of several agreements with Israel following talks with Mr Netanyahu.
He described his discussion with his Israeli counterpart as very ‘’productive’’, and said the talks covered the West Asia situation and wider areas. Netanyahu also said that his country too had borne the brunt of terrorism and cooperation in anti-terrorism was one of the main elements of their cooperation. After the talks, the two countries signed seven MoUs, for cooperation in several areas, including space and water management.
