  • Foundation of Reference Library-cum-Reading Room to be laid

Srinagar: A flurry of activities will be organized tomorrow at the Media Complex here housing the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) including an exhibition of photos and archives of pre-independence newspapers published from J&K.

The events to be hosted by DIPR will also include laying the foundation of Reference Library-cum-Reading Room, inauguration of the state-of-the-art Conference Hall, Video-Conferencing facility, and Auditorium which can accommodate more than 200 people. The State Government’s Advertisement Portal will also be launched on the occasion by the Minister for Information, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali.

The Department, an interface between the Government, the media and the people at large, is involved in projecting, highlighting and disseminating information about the activities of the Government through print, electronic, digital, social and outdoor media.

The Department has initiated various welfare schemes for journalists including the institution of Journalists Welfare Fund which is to be notified soon. The working journalists of the State have also represented for devising a Pension/Insurance Scheme for them, for which the modalities are being worked out by the Government.
