Srinagar/ July,2: Thousands of people on Sunday participated in the funeral prayers of slain Lashkar-e-Toiba commander Bashir Lashkari at his ancestral Soaf-shali village of Kokernag in south Kashmir.
The mourners were shouting slogans in favour of Kashmir’s freedom as the body of Lashkari – killed in a gunfight along with an aide Abu Maz yesterday in Dialgam village – was being carried towards the graveyard.
Lashkari, who carried a reward of ten lakh rupees, was blamed for the killing of SHO Feroz and five policemen in an attack in Thajiwara area of the district.
Funeral prayers were offered for him last night as well. At least five militants appeared in the funeral and offered a gun salute to him.
