Srinagar: The government has again called a five-day session of Assembly to discuss the implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) in the state.
The session has been called again as no consensus was evolved in the two meetings of All Party Consultative Group which was set up by the government under the chairmanship of PDP veteran and MP Muzaffar Hussain Baig and comprised members of Opposition and ruling parties.
When contacted Secretary Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Majeed Wani said that the session will be conducted from July 4 to 8.
Earlier, a special session was called by the government from June 17 but it was adjourned sine die after an obituary session was held.
The GST extension has created a controversy as opposition and traders are arguing that its extension in the present form will erode fiscal and constitutional autonomy of the state.
But the government has maintained that GST implementation will not erode the special status of the state.
