New Delhi: In a break from the past, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Israel from July 4-6 — the first ever visit of an Indian Prime Minister to the West Asian country. During his three-day visit, Mr Modi will have detailed discussions with his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu on ‘all matters of mutual interest’ and will also call on President Rivlin, an MEA statement said here today. His programme includes paying homage to Indian soldiers at the Indian Cemetery in Haifa and address to the Indian community at an event in Tel Aviv. Mr Modi’s visit to Israel is at the invitation of Mr Netanyahu and comes at a time when both countries are commemorating 25 years of diplomatic ties. The PM’s visit is expected to provide an impetus for deeper bilateral engagement in areas of mutual interest. Though India established diplomatic relations with Israel in 1992, the relationship has evolved into a multi-dimensional partnership, the spokesperson said.
