Srinagar: Reacting sharply over reduction of mobile data speeds from 4G and 3G to 2G in Kashmir valley, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah asked why does the whole valley have to have low internet speed if two militants may be holed up in a school in Srinagar.
“2 militants MAY be holed up in a school in Srinagar. Why does the whole valley have to have mobile data speeds reduced like this?” Mr Abdullah, who is the working president of National Conference (NC), wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.
Mr Abdullah, who is the working president of National Conference (NC), was reacting to reduction of 4G and 3G mobile internet speed to 2G in the valley since yesterday, when two militants, who have now been killed, where trapped inside a school at Pantha Chowk on Srinagar-Jammu national highway.
The militants attacked Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) vehicles at Pantha Chowk on Srinagar outskirts yesterday in which a Sub Inspector was killed and a jawan was injured. But, the militants were not able to flee and instead were trapped inside a school at Pantha Chowk. Both the militants were killed in an encounter in which three security forces personnel, including an Army officer, were also injured.
