Excise Deptt creates awareness on ‘Drug Abuse’ through paintings

Jammu: Continuing its campaign to raise awareness among the students about the harmful effects of drug addiction, Excise Department Saturday organized a painting and slogan writing competition on “Drug Abuse and Drunken Driving” at Ved Mandir, Bal Niketan in Jammu.

More than 130 children participated in the contest and painted their imagination on the canvas.

The event was organized by the Excise department in collaboration with Jammu Wine Traders Association and Jammu Bar and Restaurant/Hotel Associations under its Corporate Social Responsibility Corpus Fund.

Pertinent to mention that the Excise Department has launched an extensive campaign this year to educate the people about demerits of “Drug Abuse and Drunken Driving”.

The Department has also donated eight ambulances to Health Department for use in emergency situation and deployment in accident prone areas.

Deputy Excise Commissioner, Executive, Jammu  Syed Muried Hussain Shah felicitated the winners including Jasvinder Manhas, Swarna Rajput, Pooja Kumari, Raksha Thakur, Palak Thakur by giving 1st , 2nd , 3rd , 4th and 5th prize of Rs. 1500, 1250, 1000, 750 and 500 respectively. The special prize of Rs. 1000 was given to Miss Durga of UKG.

ETO, North Tinna Mahajan, ETO, Entertainment Sourabh Sharma and other officers of the department alongwith S. Charan Jeet Singh, President & other office bearers of the Jammu Wine Traders Association were present on the occasion.
