Srinagar: Wet weather is looming large over Eid-ul-Fitr festival as the Met department has predicted rain during the next 48 hours in Kashmir valley, where maximum and minimum temperatures settled above normal.
A Met department spokesperson told UNI that light rain and thundershowers could occur at isolated places during the next 48 hours in Kashmir valley.
People woke up to a hot and humid Sunday morning in the summer capital, Srinagar, where night temperature surged 2 degree from yesterday and settled at 19.6 degree. The night temperature recorded in Srinagar was 3 degree above normal. But, as the progressed there was some respite from hot weather conditions due to cloudy skies. Yesterday, the day temperature recorded in the summer capital was 2 degree above normal.
The spokesperson said sky will be generally cloudy in Srinagar, where maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 29 degree and 18 degree, respectively.
World famous ski resort of Gulmarg, about 55 km from here in north Kashmir, witnessed a hot and sunny day. The night temperature at the ski resort also surged a degree from yesterday and settled at 12 degree, which is 2 degree above normal.
“The weather is hot in Gulmarg since yesterday, but the tourists are enjoying horse and Gondola rides, besides other activities,” a hotelier told UNI over the phone.
The night temperature at world famous health resort of Pahalgam, Qazigund, gateway to Kashmir valley, tourist resort of Kukernag and Kupwara in north Kashmir surged and settled at 11.9 degree, 17.3 degree, 16.7 degree and 17.9 degree, respectively.
