Tale of political inconsistencies in Kashmir

The current phase of the disconnect of mainstream political parties with the people at grass roots shows the failures of the governments both in Srinagar and Delhi. Regimes come and go without bringing any perceptible change on ground in this state which keeping in view it’s political and security vulnerabilities should have got a focused attention from both the state and the central governments.  The onus of responsibility for the current phase of disconnects lies on the mainstream political parties sitting in the government and the opposition. To influence a voter,  political parties  raise slogans just to exploit voters even in the 2Ist century when political awakening has change the perception of youth about the working of political parties in power . The tragedy with the mainstream political parties is the continuing inconsistency in their core political agendas. The regional political parties particularly PDP and National Conference tall about self-reliance, and resolution of conflicts through process of  dialogue and mutual trust in election time but forget all about their core political agenda in post election scenarios. True it is that  PDP and National Conference campaign against the extension of central rules to Jammu & Kashmir in election time but preferred to be part of BJP and Congress the parties tending to erode and further erode article 370 guaranteeing special status to the state for the reasons of their own political conveniences. PDP sought votes against BJP in the last assembly elections but allied with the same party which is committed to scrap article 370 guaranteeing special status to Jammu & Kashmir  just to grab power in  the stateat the cost of its own core political agenda. Now Kashmir is in the second year of unrest but the Modi government is not bothering to touch down to the people at the grass roots who feel betrayed by PDP. Strange it is that PDP on its part stresses on self rule, facilitation of dialogue for conflict resolution and opening of more trade routes between the divided parts of Kashmir, but ally BJP trashes the demands of its own ally just to secure its poll prospects in some pockets of Jammu division and rest of the country.

Since the PDP has lost focus on its core political agenda, the people are not ready to listen all that what party says to defend its unholy alliance with BJP. Even the deadlock over the adoption of a viable legislation on GST also exposes the political inconsistencies of PDP and National Conference on their core political revolving around protection of article 370.

What is happening in the aftermath of 2014 assembly elections is just part of the agenda of power politics both PDP and BJP propagate in the Jammu & Kashmir a state which remained at the core of difficulties in India-Pakistan relations for more than last sixty five years.
