BJP’s unfriendly gestures

With BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav ruling out the possibility of talks with separatist leadership on Kashmir the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti stands discredited by her ally the BJP. Interestingly Chief Minister in her recent statement on the floor of the assembly in a veiled reference to National Conference President Farooq Abullah’s opposition to dialogue with the separatists during the hey days of his Chief Ministerial rule (1996-2002) had said that she is happy to see demands of dialogue and democracy getting support for people who used to oppose it in the past. Now not Mehbooba’s arch rival National Conference but the BJP is not only opposing dialogue with the separatist leadership but threatens to pull out instead of compromising on the “national sovereignty”. The stunning for Mehbooba Mufti is the advice of Ram Madhav for holding a dialogue with anyone willing to talk within the parameters of Indian constitution. Though Mehbooba Mufti has been repeatedly saying it that her party allied with BJP to use Modi government’s brute majority in the parliament for the resolution of Kashmir issue but so for the central leadership including Prime Minister Narendra Modi,Home Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP Chief Amit Shah have dozens of time reiterated the central government’s unwillingness to hold any dialogue with the separatist leadership. Now not only on dialogue with the separatist leadership but also over the continuing deadlock on the implementation of Good and Service Tax (GST) the BJP leadership both in the state and at the centre is mounting pressure on Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to implement GST in the same form it has been implemented else in the country. Till yesterday Chief Minister had created an impression that government intends to constitute an All Party Committee (APC) under the chairmanship of PDP Parliament Member Muzaffar Hussain Baig but now Baig himself has refuted the reports suggesting that he has to head the All Party Committee (APC) on GST row.

BJP has been tending to show unfriendly gestures right from the day one on almost on all the issues that coming in the way of the incumbent PDP-BJP coalition government but PDP has bitterly failed to respond appropriately to these unfriendly gestures of BJP.

While on one hand Muzaffar Hussain Baig the PDP parliament Member has refuted the reports suggesting that he is heading the All Party Committee (APC) proposed for settling difference over proposed GST legislation the Industries Minister Chander Prakash Ganga a BJP man on the other hand is continuing consultation with the trading bodies of Jammu division. While the domain of holding talks over GST is that of Finance Minister Haseeb Drab the Industries Minister Chander Prakash Ganga a BJP man has trespassed his jurisdiction by holding talks with trading bodies of Jammu division over GST row. BJP has been tending to show unfriendly gestures right from the day one on almost on all the issues that coming in the way of the incumbent PDP-BJP coalition government but PDP has bitterly failed to respond appropriately to these unfriendly gestures of BJP.
