Jammu: A local court has acquitted encounter specialist of Jammu and Kashmir Police, who was arrested for allegedly running a militant group on Doda belt of the state.
Principal Sessions Judge Bhaderwah, M K Sharma today acquitted an ‘encounter specialist’ Sub-Inspector, Shiv Krishan Sharma alias Sonu, who was instrumental in killing 68 militants in the Doda-Kishtwar belt.
He was arrested by the police for running a Militant Group, as 15 important witnesses turned hostile in the case.
While acquitting Shiv Krishan Sharma and seven others, Principal Sessions Judge Bhaderwah, M K Sharma observed that before drawing the curtain in the case, Court cannot help observing that this is a case in which the police cited as many as 93 witnesses to establish various charges against the accused persons and out of 93 witnesses, 15 were examined under section 164-A CrPC.
Majority of the witnesses including some police personnel and respectable people of the locality have turned hostile.
In the result the prosecution has failed to prove the case against the accused and thus with these observations the Court acquitted Shiv Krishan Sharma and his associates.
