Srinagar: The United Forum of Newspapers in Kashmir today announced to boycott Iftar party being hosted by Chief minister Mehbooba Mufti this evening. A statement issued here said that in an emergency meeting of the members of the forum held under the chairmanship of its president Ghulam Hassan Kaloo, it was decided to abstain from the Iftar Party hosted by the Chief Minister as Media Houses of Newspapers stand allegedly suffocated. Despite presentation of several memoranda containing genuine demands to the CM, Information Minister and Secretary Information Department, no relief has been given and advertisements squeezed beyond any reasonable limit, the Forum alleged. No doubt, a few newspapers are showered plenty of advertisements while majority are denied their due right. This way of treatment smacks of some policy of the government to muzzle the Press in the State of J&K, the statement further alleged. UNI
