Srinagar: Train service has been resumed this morning after remaining suspended for two days for security reasons in the Kashmir valley.
The train service was suspended on June 16 when an encounter ensued between militants holed up in a house and security forces at Arwaini in south Kashmir.
The train service remained suspended Saturday also in view of the strike called by separatists against the killing of three civilians in security force action in outskirts Srinagar and Arwaini south Kashmir.
All trains are running as per schedule between Sriangar-Badgam central Kashmir to Baramulla in North Kashmir, railway official said.
He said similarly rail service was also resumed on Badgam-Sriangar-Anantnag- Qazigund in South Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region.
In the past, railway property has suffered massive damage during protests in the valley, where the train services remained suspended for about six months during summer unrest last year.
