Wreath laying ceremony for slain cop held at DPL Srinagar

Srinagar: Tributes were Saturday paid to constable Tasveer Ahmad Dar, who was among six police personnel killed in a militant attack in south Kashmir district of Anantnag Friday evening.
Reports said a wreath laying ceremony was held Saturday in District Police Lines (DPL) Srinagar, where Chief Secretary B B Vyas led civil, police and security force officers and jawans in laying floral wreaths on the mortal remains of Dar.
Among those who paid floral tributes to martyr included Principal Home Secretary R K Goyal and Director General of Police (DGP) Dr S P Vaid.
The body of the martyr was laid to rest at his native village Sorasyar Chadoora in the central Kashmir district of Badgam. A large number of people participated in the Nimaz-e-Jinazah.
A police spokesman said last evening a wreath laying ceremony was also held in DPL Anantnag where Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Kashmir Range (SKR) Swami Prakash Pani led the civil and police officers in laying the floral wreaths to the bodies of SHO Achabal Sub Inspector Feroz Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Raheem Dar resident of Dogripora Awantipora, Constablet (Ct) Sharik Ahmad lone son of Abdul Ahad lone resident of Mahayal Tangmarg Baramulla, Ct Tasveer Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Ahmad Dar resident of Sorasyar Chadoora Budgam, Ct Sheraz Ahmad Bhat son of Sana-ul-lah Bhat resident of Adso Achabal, Ct Sabzar Ahmad son of Farooq Ahmad resident of Nowgam Shopian and SPO Mohammad Asif Nazikee son of Mohammad Iqbal Nazikee resident of Shangus.
He said last evening militants fired upon a police party which was on way from Anantnag to Achabal at Thajiwara resulting in the death of six police personnel including .
Police spokesman said the attack was carried out by Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) Commander Bashir Lashkari.

Ct Tasveer Ahmad is survived by aged parents, wife and two minor daughters, Ct Sheraz Ahmad is survived by aged parents, wife, minor daughter and three brothers.
Ct Sharik Ahmad is survived by aged parents, wife, minor daughter, unmarried brother and sister and SPO Mohammad Asif is survived by aged parents, wife, two minor children and unmarried brother.
