Qawali Competition organized at Tagore Hall

Srinagar/June,14: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) in collaboration with Department of School Education J&K organized Qawali, Husn–e–Qirat and Naat Competitions for students at Tagore Hall Srinagar.

On second day of the event Thursday, students from five districts of the valley viz Baramulla, Pulwama, Ganderbal, Budgam and Srinagar presented Qawalis and mesmerized the audience. The student performers were appreciated by one and all present in the hall.

Among others present on the occasion include Secretary J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Dr. Aziz Hajni, Deputy Director News Doordarshan Kendra Srinagar Qazi Salman, Head Regional News Unit Radio Kashmir Srinagar Mushtaq Ahmad Tantray, Cultural officer Department of School Education J&K Gh. Nabi Shakir, former Member Parliament Sharief – Ud – Din Shariq and a galaxy of students and art lovers.

While welcoming the guests, secretary Cultural Academy Dr Aziz Hajni said JKAACL is the platform from where budding scholars, poets, writers, singers and artists are nourished   adding added that JKAACL will take all possible measures to promote the ‘Kashur’ talent.       Recalling the contribution of noted poets and singers viz Professor Rehman Rahi and Waheed Jeelani, Hajni said present generation should see them as their ideals and role models in order to grow themselves as distinguished personalities because such kind of personalities are remembered for decades together.

The Chief guest of the occasion Deputy Director News Doordarshan Kendra Srinagar Qazi Salman while addressing the audience said such events provide a platform to those students who are interested in various art forms and boost their confidence.

Head Regional News Unit Radio Kashmir Srinagar Mushtaq Ahmad Tantray congratulated the organizers and participants of the event. He said such programs are as important for the overall development of the students as their syllabus.

He added that need of the hour is to revive the forgotten cultural traditions of Kashmir, which used to be an integral part of valley during the holy month of Ramadan.

Cultural officer Department of School Education J&K Gh. Nabi Shakir while presenting the vote of thanks said cultural wing of Education Department is quite concerned in bringing out the hidden talents of students. He thanked the Cultural Academy and Regional News Units of Doordarshan Srinagar & Radio Kashmir Srinagar for their coordination and cooperation in making this event a success.

On the occasion famous singers and musicians including Rehamatullah Khan, Qaiser Nizami and Haqeem Gh Mohd judged the participants.

Prize distribution ceremony of the event will be held in Tagore hall on June 17. Governor J&K will present prizes and certificates to the winning groups.
