Edu Minister reviews implementation of Bla DDB decisions

Baramulla/June,8: The Minister for Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, Saturday chaired a review meeting to take stock of the implementation of various decisions taken during last Baramulla District Development Board meeting.

Pledging to restore the district’s pristine glory, the Minister said various measures are afoot to augment the existing infrastructure in view of the necessities created by the population expansion in the district.

Minister for Horticulture Syed Basharat Bukhari, Legislators Javed Hassan Beigh, Mohammad Abbas Wani, Abdul Rasheed Dar, Ghulam Nabi Monga, District Development Commissioner Dr. Nasir Naqash and Heads of various Departments besides sectoral officers were present in the meeting.

The meeting took a comprehensive review of the progress made in various developmental projects and decisions of the last Board meeting and took stock of sectoral, physical and financial achievements registered, so far, under the District Plan 2017-18 and stressed for timely completion of ongoing works in the district.

District Development Commissioner Baramulla briefed the meeting about various developmental activities which are currently at various stages of completion.

It was given out that against an approved outlay of Rs 254.35 crore, out of which Rs 422.44 lakh stand expended till date. Taking the sector wise review, the meeting was informed that in Rural Development Department under NRLM Rs 8.0crore were spent against the availability of Rs 31.08crore. Whereas, under MGNREGA against an availability of Rs 20.09crore, expended amount till date is Rs 196.20 lakh.

Under R&B Sector, the meeting was informed that 39 bridges have been taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 111.72 crore and cumulative expenditure stands at Rs 42.46 crore. It was also stated that during 2017-18 under District sector against the target of 42 km, macadamization of 9.10 km of road length was completed.

Addressing the meeting, Altaf Bukhari, who is Chairman Baramulla DDB, directed the district administration to put in their best for realizing the goals and targets envisaged in annual plan so as to ensure maximum benefits to the people.

Regarding rotten food grains in Hygam food godown, he directed the FCS&CA functionaries to submit a report regarding its disposal within seven days. He also directed the R&B officials to expedite work on repair of Narbal- Tangmarg- Gulmarg road. Director Health Services was asked to prepare a report regarding the preparation of DPRs for sub-centres at Kanloo, Yall, Dangerpora and Dalri villages of Baramulla.

He lauded the officers of the Baramulla district for discharging their duty even in trying conditions and expressed satisfaction over the pace of progress of various development works. He called upon the concerned officers to put in their best efforts to achieve the targets well in time and implement all the decision of the Board in letter and spirit for the overall progress and development of the district.

The legislators representing different constituencies of the district raised various demands and issues of public interest concerning their respective constituencies and demanded their immediate redressal. The Chairman DDB assured that their demands will be looked into and necessary steps would be taken to address them on priority.

Meanwhile, DDC Baramulla was given directions to take regular field visit of various developmental project sites to take first hand inspection of these projects for their time-bound and effective execution.
