New Delhi: Minister for Information Technology, Technical Education and Youth Services & Sports, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari, Friday said a mega Sports Carnival will be organized soon in the State of Jammu and Kashmir on the recommendations of the Union Sports Minister.

In a meeting here, the Minister discussed the development of Sports and related infra in the State with Union Minister for Sports Vijay Goel, who expressed his eagerness to participate in the Sports Carnival.

While discussing various mega sports projects for the State, Ansari proposed National Institute of Sport (NIS) for the State on priority basis.

During the threadbare discussions, the reconstruction of Bakshi Stadium on the basis of international Standard was also discussed.

“Earlier our proposal was about Rs 30 crore for the reconstruction of the Bakshi Stadium, but now I am happy to have a positive response from the Union Minister for Sports for increasing the budget so that Bakshi Stadium will be completely transformed into a state-of-art international football Stadium where international events can be played,” Ansari said.

Ansari also apprised the Union Minister about the recruitment of 100 coaches under different sports categories in the State so that athletes are properly groomed and trained.

He said recent success of our talented Sports athletes who came with gold, silver and bronze medals in national and international competitions was a trigger of positive sports trend in the State and will inspire others to follow the suit.

Ansari also put a proposal of establishing the village clubs for the engagement of the youth in sports related activities and said the outstanding sportspersons should get trained outside as well besides sponsored for different national and international events.

The Union Minister while assuring his full support to the budding sports talent of the State said he is all for Sports to a next level in the State.
