Div Com(K) reviews progress of dredging on river Jhelum

Srinagar/June,8: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan Friday convened a meeting to review the progress of dredging work on river Jehlum and flood spill channel.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Executive Engineer of Irrigation and Flood control, Deputy Director Planning, Representatives from Reach Dredging Limited and other concerned officials were present in the meeting. Also the Deputy Commissioners of Anantnag, Budgam, Pulwama, Bandipora and Baramulla participated in the meeting through Video Conferencing.

The Engineers of I&FC informed the meeting that till Friday Reach Dredging Limited Company have dredged 2.28 lakh cubic meters out of 4.05 lakh cubic meters target in Sopore, 0.83 lakh cubic meters in Baramulla town against 5.10 lakh cubic meters target, 0.93 cubic meters in Peerzo Srinagar out of 4.30 lakh cubic meters target and 1.70 lakh cubic meters in Panzinara have been dredged against target of 2.72 lakh cubic meters.

Div Com directed the concerned Deputy Commissioners to review the progress of dredging on weekly basis in their respective districts so that the target of dredging is completed within a stipulated time frame.

Khan also directed the Reach Dredging Limited Company to work round the clock with dedication so that dredging process will complete in the time frame besides instructed them to deploy additional machines in Baramulla to complete the dredging at earliest.

Engineers of I&FC informed that the work is under progress on Jehlum Flood spill Channel and till Friday 43800 trees were axed to clear the embankments. It was also informed that a total of 16 excavators are working on the said project.

Div Com directed I&FC engineers to deploy additional 50 machines on the project so that the tangible result is achieved and directed all concerned Executive engineers to provide weekly progress report to the concerned Deputy Commissioners.

Khan also directed the Collector, Land Acquisition Irrigation & Flood Control (I&FC) to disburse the compensation to the land owners within 3 days and start the demolition work on the acquired land on next day.
