Srinagar|Thursday, June 8: National Conference Working President Omar Abdullah on Thursday said the brave, resilient women of the State have borne the brunt of turmoil, uncertainty and instability in the State and strived against all odds to be an integral part of the State’s movement towards prosperity and peace. Addressing a Women’s Convention organized by National Conference Women’s Wing at Party Head Office ‘Nawa-e-Subha’ in Srinagar, Omar Abdullah said the party’s women activists had always played a pivotal role in strengthening the party at the grassroots level.
“Our mothers, sisters and daughters have shown exemplary fortitude and resilience in striving for the rights of our State and its people. They have borne the brunt of turmoil in the State and despite unimaginable circumstances, they have never hesitated to stand up and be counted. In empowering our women and ensuring they are heard, respected and given due representation, we will be shaping a bright future for our State”, the NC Working President said while addressing the Women’s Wing Convention.
The National Conference Working President, while commending the Party’s Women’s Wing Provincial President Mohtarma Shamima Firdous and other office bearers lauded the contribution of the Women’s Wing in ensuring the success of various party programs and outreach initiatives that are underway. “Under the dynamic and dedicated leadership of Mohtarma Shamima Firdous Ji, the Women’s Wing has always contributed immensely to the party and continues to be a pillar of our strength. I assure all of you that I will always support your efforts for the party and the State and empower you to take forward the mission of rescuing the State from the clutches of political opportunism and misgovernance”, Omar Abdullah further said.
Speaking on the occasion, NC General Secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar highlighted the role of the Party’s Women Wing in ensuring the party’s message and programs are taken to every door in the State and in their remarkable courage in the worst possible circumstances.
Addressing the Women’s Wing Convention, Senior Party Leader, MLA Habba Kadal and the Provincial President of the NC Women’s Wing, Mohtarma Shamima Firdous thanked the office bearers of the Women’s Wing and its activists for coming out in large numbers to participate in the Women’s Wing Convention held in Srinagar and said the party’s Women’s Wing had played a historic role in ensuring the success of the party’s mission at various crucial, historic junctures.
“The Women’s Wing of National Conference is a pillar of strength for the party and has always and will always play an important role in strengthening the party at the grassroots level. The women of the State have faced enormous hardships and still worked with sincerity and dedication for the upliftment of the society. I assure the Party Leadership that we will continue to work hard and won’t leave any stone unturned to serve the party in its sacrosanct mission of fighting for the State and its people”, Mohtarma Shamima Firdous said during her address.
