Srinagar/June,7: Mainstream political party in Kashmir observes State Flag Day
Awami Itihaad Party led by legislator Engineer Rasheed observed State Flag Day here in Kashmir capital Srinagar.
Rasheed who organized the celebratory function at Municipal Park Jawahar Nagar hoisted State Flag and on this occasion the participants sung State anthem.
Pertinently, on 11 July 1939, the flag was adopted by the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference. Then on 7 June 1952, a resolution was passed by the Constituent Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir, making it the official flag of the State.
“We were not given permission by police but people from different parts arrived in large numbers and we successfully organized the function,” Rasheed said.
In his address Rasheed said retreated that restoration of Autonomy is not the solution and Kashmiris will accept nothing less than plebiscite.
He said till final resolution Kashmiris have to ensure that India doesn’t erode the remnant provisions of Article 370, that given special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
“Whether it is state flag or Article 370 they are all ample proof to prove that J&K is not India’s Integral part,” he said.
