MoS Power stresses on timely completion R-APDRP works

Srinagar/June,3: Minister of State for Power Development, Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi, Tuesday called upon the functionaries of PDD and other executing agencies to complete the works taken up under Part–B of Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Program (R-APDRP) in Kashmir province within the stipulated time.

The direction was given by the Minister at a high-level officers meeting convened to review the status of various works under R-APDRP in Srinagar city and other towns of the Valley here Tuesday.

Under the program Rs 889.56 crore are being utilized for creation and upgradation of various kind of electric infrastructure under R-APDRP in Kashmir Province. The project also envisages modernization of power infrastructure, including improvement in transmission and distribution system.

While reviewing the status of different components of R-APDRP Part B project, Syed Andrabi directed the executing agency EMC Limited and other executing agencies to expedite the implementation of the said project works and complete the same within the set time set by the Government.

Commissioner Secretary PDD Dheeraj Gupta, Development Commissioner Power, Secretary Technical PDD, Chief Engineer EM&RE Kashmir, Chief Engineer Project Wing Kashmir,  SEs and Executive Engineers of various wings of PDD, other concerned senior officers and representatives of executing agencies attended the meeting.

The Minister while directing speeding up the execution process said the program is pivotal for strengthening and augmenting the power infra in the valley and necessary measures should be taken for its speedy execution. He said the officers and the executing agency should hold regular meetings to remove the bottle necks, if any, so that it is completed within the stipulated time frame.

He said the completion of the works under the project, will provide much needed respite to the people from low voltage issues.

Syed Andrabi also sought details about the installation of new transformers in various localities of Srinagar city and other towns under the project.

He directed the Chief Engineer Project Wing to furnish progress report of the works on weekly basis to the higher authorities. He also instructed Power Development Commissioner and C.E Operation to ensure the inspections of completed power works in all urban area being carried out under the R-APDRP.

Expressing dissatisfaction over the pace of the work by EMC Limited, the Minister directed the executing agencies to work in double shifts to expedite the R-APDRP works with necessary technical manpower and machinery to complete the project in given time.

The Minister impressed upon all officers to work with synergy so that the projects are implemented within stipulated time frame. He said coordination among the allied departments should be ensured for early implementation of the R-APDRP in Kashmir adding that the special care should be taken for undertaking the quality checks of the material being used for augmenting the power infrastructure.
