99 fresh newspapers, periodicals empanelled for release of govt ads

Srinagar/June,3: The Government Tuesday approved empanelment of 99 fresh newspapers and periodicals for advertisement support taking the total number of empanelled newspapers in the State to 467.

The fresh empanelment has been granted to these publications on the recommendations of the Empanelment Committee in terms of Clause-2 of the Advertisement Policy-2016 and on the approval of the Minister for Information Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali.

The Empanelment Committee headed by the Administrative Secretary Information Department and comprising members from Finance and Home Departments and MERC Srinagar and IIMC Jammu had met in Jammu on 27th March 2017.

The newly empanelled newspapers include 61 dailies, 33 weeklies, one fortnightly, two monthly magazines and two monthly newspapers.

In Jammu division the empanelled newspapers include Early Time Plus, Nai Roshni, Maximum Times, Young Organizer, Rising Kashmir (Jammu), Golden Yug, News Unlimited, Nawai-e-Waqt Azeem, Big News, Suargam, Voice of Trust, JK Reflector, Early Morning, Golden Words, Sadai-e-Kohistan, Takmeel, Jammu Sun, Hill People, Rural Message, Kathua Kesari, Complete News, Jammu Jyoti, Recent News, Mercury Times, Day Tuesday News, State Vision, The Youth Plus, Daily Aasmaan, Refugee Message, Jammu Hours, Morning Tuesday, Zinda Sach, Awami Lehar, Dharti Times, Financial Explorer, Public Times, 29-X-News, Kotli Times, Galaxy News, Jammu Express, Jammu Message, Jammu Views, Express Point, Jammu Diamond, Truth Prevail, North-in-News, Early Post, Jindrah Images, Earth News, Mission Peace, Jammu Josh, Maroof, The Great Indian, Jammu Parisaran, NaWeed, Yuva Tarang, Al-attish, The Border Line, Jammu Chetna, Pardesh Bhumi, Samarkand Express, Ladakh Images, Apna Jammu, Bharat Times, Billawar Kesari, Bahu Bali Times, Job Dot Com, JK News Network, JANDK Ex Servicemen Patrika and Swarrn Smarika in Jammu division.

In Kashmir division, the newly empanelled newspapers include Junoon, Khursheed, Era of Kashmir, Geo Kashmir, Karwan-e-Kashmir, Kashmir Aman, Kashmir Digest, Kashmir Story, Precious Kashmir, Kashmir Glory, The Tribune, Global Post, Nidai-e-Kashmir, Be-Khof Awaaz, Lake City Times, Mashaal Times, Ummat, Gawah Express, Srinagar Samachar, City Reporter, Kashmir Courier, Peace Times Kashmir, Barg-e-Chinar, Shaan-e-Kashmir, News Kashmir, Mansar, Quami Lehar, The Kashmir Magazine and The Counselor.

Pertinently, 368 newspapers and periodicals, including 201 in Jammu and 167 in Kashmir, were already empanelled with the Department of Information for release of official advertisements.

The Department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR) has released a payment of Rs 32.05 crore during the fiscal 2016-17 to the newspapers and periodicals on account of the past liabilities and the advertisements issued under the budget head during the last financial year.

In addition, advertisements of the PSUs and autonomous bodies valuing around Rs 5 crore have been issued to the newspapers and the periodicals under the non-budgeting head by DIPR during the past fiscal.

For the current financial year the advertisement budget is around Rs 30 crore.
