LA’s PAC panels recommends early functioning of newly upgraded SDHs

Srinagar/June,3: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly which met here Monday under the Chairmanship of MLA, Mohammad Akbar Lone decided to make its recommendations to Government for making functional the newly upgraded Sub- District Hospitals (SDH) in the State.

Legislators, Mtr. Shamim Firdous, Aijaz Ahmad Khan, Abdul Rashid Dar, Pawan Kumar Gupta, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat and Mushtaq Ahmad Shah were present in the meeting and gave suggestions for further improvement in the working of Health & Medical Education Department.

Showing concern for not making these health institutions functional so far, the Panel directed the concerned department for making and pursuing the proposal with regard to creation of posts of various cadres for these health institutions so that their early functioning is ensured.

The meeting was convened to discuss the Audit Paras pertaining to Health and Medical Education Department contained in the CAG’s Audit Report.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were also held on the issues including wasteful expenditure of Rs 21.55 lakh incurred on drawing and conceptual plan for construction of 300-bedded hospital at Anantang. The panel also constituted a Departmental Committee headed by Director Finance, Health and Medical Education who will submit report in next meeting for scrutiny.

Discussing the audit paras pertaining to purchase of Laparoscopic Surgical Units and Sub-standard drugs, the Committee directed the concerned to submit a detailed report in this regard in next of its meeting.

Among others, Accountant General (Audit) H. Abbas, Director General, Accountant & Treasuries, Altaf Hasson, Secretary, Technical, H&ME, Dr. Abdul Kabir Dar, Director Finance, Mohammad Rafiq, Director Family Welfare, Dr. Samir Mattoo, Director, Health Services, Kashmir, Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman, Principal, Government Medical College, Srinagar, Dr. Samia Rashid, Projector Director NACO, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, Mission Director, NHM, Dr. Mohan Singh, Medical Superintendent, Government College Jammu, Dr. Romesh Gupta, Senior Officers of Health & Medical Education Department and other Senior Officers of Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
