Govt announces 50% rebate to boost tourism

Srinagar/June,3: The State Government Saturday announced 50 percent rebate on travel packages and lodgings to boost tourist arrival to the Valley.

Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC) will provide 50 percent rebate from booking a room to a full tour package, to help a tourist in customizing the tour to Valley at half the original price to provide needed flip to the tourism sector.

The Corporation has its properties at prime tourist resorts across the State be it most sought after designations like Gulmarg or Pahalgam and in leisure places at breathtaking offbeat destination like Aharbal and Kokernag with arrangements of the comfortable stay.

Managing Director JKTDC said currently Corporation has an accommodation capacity of 1750 beds and runs 7 restaurants and cafeterias across the state. It also has a fleet of vehicles which caters to transportation needs of the tourists.

He said unlike other states, Jammu and Kashmir offers all the tourism products like pilgrim, leisure, trekking & mountaineering, golf, MICE, heritage, culture, art and craft, film shooting, water sports.

Due to its unmatched beauty and moderate temperature, the Kashmir valley has been the first choice for the travelers, he added.

The MD said Kashmiris are most hospitable people and tourists who visit Kashmir are ultimately our ambassadors. He said the Tourism Department is planning to organize more FAM trips for tour operators, media persons so that they will see by themselves that the tourist destinations in Kashmir are not only totally safe but also offer great enjoyment.

He said the Corporation has pre-designed tour packages and travelers can also customize their tours themselves by logging on to the website at jktdc.co.in.

The travelers can also book their tour itineraries at the Corporation’s travel offices in Mumbai, Chennai, New Delhi, Ahmadabad, Kolkata, and Hyderabad or in Jammu. The tourists can also send their holiday package requirements at [email protected].
