Comr Secy Works reviews dev works in Rajouri, Poonch

Rajouri/June,3: Commissioner Secretary Public Works Department, Sanjeev Verma Saturday directed PWD(R&B) authorities to establish close liaison and coordination with district administration to overcome bottlenecks hampering expeditious execution of works.

Verma said this during a meeting convened to  review the  progress achieved on various ongoing development works being executed by PWD(R&B) in Poonch and Rajouri districts.

District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary and Chief Engineer PWD(R&B) Jammu, Sudhir Kumar Shah were present  in the meeting.

Detailed review of several ongoing projects in both the districts was held and the Commissioner Secretary instructed the officers of R&B to put in their best and achieve the targets within fixed timeframe.

Stressing on strict adherence to quality specifications of infra projects,  Verma asked officers to ensure establishment of testing labs for all projects.

SE PWD Rajouri-Poonch circle in a power point presentation briefed the meeting about physical achievements upto April 2017 in Rajouri and Poonch districts. He informed that 15 roads and two bridges have been completed during 2016-17, including 12 roads and a bridge in Rajouri district.

45.28km road has been blacktopped in Rajouri, making total blacktopped road length in the district to 743.47km. The SE further informed that 172.05km has been metalled, 165.40km shingled besides 392.56km fair weather road.

It was also given out that corresponding figures for Poonch districts were 450.20km blacktopped, 103.87km metalled, 80.89km Shingled and 280.22km fair weather.

The Commission Secretary while expressing dissatisfaction over pace of work especially in blacktopping asked the officers to fastrack tendering process and proactively resolve issues hindering speedy execution of road infra projects.

Status of work on Degree College Surankote beside progress achieved on ongoing CRF & STF projects, tourist destination roads, city & town roads, construction of Girls hostels and upgradation and strengthening of RMSA school buildings, Gujjar & Bakerwal hostels, MH 4225-EKLVYA model residential school in the twin districts were also  reviewed.

Verma also reviewed the progress achieved in construction of TFC Chakkan Da Bagh and directed ExEn R&B Poonch to expedite the work to meet November 2017 deadline.

Later he also conducted inspection of Government Medical College, Rajouri and directed for adherence to fixed timelines for completion of project.

SE PWD, Rajouri-Poonch, M A Wani, ExEn PWD Poonch, Mushtaq Raina, ExEn PWD Rajouri, S A Wani, executive engineers of PMGSY beside AEEs, AEs and JEs attended the meeting.
