New Delhi, May 31: Amid concern over high tax rate structure on some items under Goods and Services Tax (GST), the Delhi Government is all set to pass the SGST today in its one-day special Assembly Session called by it.
The decision to hold session was approved at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal as the the new tax regime is all set to come into effect across the nation from July 1, 2017.
Although the AAP Govt has geared up for the passage of the SGST but Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who is also the Finance Minister of Delhi, had expressed serious concern over high tax rates of some items under GST and said that its tax structure should not burden ‘Aam Admi (common man)’.
“GST should be implemented but it has to be done in a proper way.
I have been reiterating in the GST Council meeting that its provision, policies should be made keeping in mind about common people and traders,” Mr Sisodia told reporters here yesterday.
