New Delhi, May 29: The Supreme Court today asked the Centre to explore the provision of providing safety and security to a family from Manipur allegedly being threatened at the behest of the state’s Chief Minister, whose son is serving time in a road rage case .
The apex court was hearing a plea filed by the parents of a road rage victim, Irom Roger, seeking protection, safety and security to them.
Their son was allegedly killed on March 21, 2011, in a road rage case by Ajay Meetai, the son of present Chief Minister of Manipur, N Biren Singh.
The mother of Roger, Irom Chitra Devi, had moved the apex court seeking protection to her family in the case.
Irom Roger, was allegedly killed in 2011 when he did not allow Meetai’s SUV to overtake his vehicle.
