Srinagar/May,26: Minister of State for Housing & Urban Development, Social Welfare and Health & Medical Education, Asiea Naqash, Friday asked the officers to expedite work on all the ongoing developmental projects for their completion within set timeframes so that people do not suffer on account of lack of basic facilities.

The Minister was speaking at a meeting of officers of the Power Development Department (PDD) convened to review the status of ongoing projects underway in Srinagar in general and the Hazratbal constituency in particular.

During the meeting, the Minister sought the status of works on the projected receiving stations at Batpora and Telbal and expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of work by the Electrical Manufacturing Company (EMC) Limited, the executing agency for the projects. She directed the PDD to ensure that the deadlines are met and the developmental works are completed so that their benefits reach to the people.

Asiea also sought details of plans made for strengthening the overloaded Burzhama and Hazak feeders. Reiterating that people must not face problems on account of it, she directed the PDD to complete the strengthening and stabilization of feeders by November this year. With regard to the status of strengthening of feeders at Hazratbal and Zakura, it was informed that works on both the feeders are currently under execution.

The meeting also discussed the augmentation of sub-stations at Elahi Bagh and Zakura and was informed that augmentation of power transformers will be completed by September this year.

The Minister also sought details of the status of PDD Division-I works and was informed that installation of poles and transmission lines is going on at various locations in Srinagar. She asked the Department to make estimates of further requirements of poles and transformers and submit the same to her office by June 15.

Asiea said she will personally review the progress of all the ongoing works in Srinagar after the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

Chief Engineer PDD (M&RE) Kashmir, Shanhnaz Goni, I/C Chief Engineer Project Wing Kashmir, Daljeet Singh, concerned Superintending Engineers and Executive Engineers besides representatives of EMC Limited attended the meeting.
